What Are Some Options For Your Kitchen Floor?

Is your kitchen floor looking tired, old, or out of style? If you’re looking to replace your kitchen floor, you have plenty of options available. In this blog we’ll talk about a few of the more commonly used types of kitchen flooring, and their pros and cons.

Tile

Tile flooring is what many think of when they think of the typical kitchen floor. Ceramic tiles are a perennial favorite for kitchen flooring due to the wide variety of options they offer in terms of color, style, and size. They’re also very durable and relatively affordable, making them one of the most popular all around kitchen floors.

Natural Stone

Natural stone gives any kitchen an elegant yet unique look, due to the slight variations in each cut of stone. Harder stone is very durable, but softer stone may crack. Porous stone can also collect dirt, and will require sealing. Overall, natural stone isn’t cheap and may require maintenance, but it’s worth it for those who want the look.

Wood

Wood is a great kitchen floor for those going for a rustic or more homey look. Different cuts and types of wood offer lots of options for customization, and wood can be refinished to look as good as new once it starts showing its age. Wood floors are sensitive to spills and dents, but with maintenance you can keep it looking good. They are also relatively affordable.

Vinyl

The two biggest assets of vinyl floors are their ability to mimic lots of other flooring materials, and their low price point. They’re also easy to clean and repair, but won’t last very long compared to other materials.

Linoleum

Linoleum floors are made from linseed oil, resins, and wood flour, so they’re actually different than synthetic vinyl. Linoleum gives you a big palette in terms of colors and designs, and it’s also affordable and low maintenance. However, it can fade over time, and may require waxing and polishing.
